Thousands of delegates from coast to coast to coast representing local and national unions including labour bodies were in attendance at the 30th Canadian Labour Constitutional Convention held in Montreal, Quebec from May 8 - 12, 2023. The convention theme was "Canada's Unions: Lifting Everyone Up", where several important social and economic resolutions were brought forward for debate by delegates which will help outline the future of the labour movement. Other important issues that were discussed include action plans for the care economy, affordability, indigenous justice, climate action, and building worker power.
The week was highlighted with a rally through the streets of Montreal. Also during the week, great musical talents like Jully Black (award winning singer/songwriter), Urban Science Brass Band, Cecile Doo - Kingue, Les Grands Hurleurs, Queer as Funk, and Gayance performed. The event also included guest speakers Josh Thole (Baseball player), Margaret Cho (Comedian/Actress), Chris Smalls (Amazon Labour Union), and Sarah Broad (Organizer of North America's first unionized Starbucks in Vancouver, British Columbia).
The end of the week was highlighted by the delegates re-electing CLC President Bea Bruske, Secretary-Treasurer Lily Chang and Executive Vice-Presidents Siobhan Vipond and Larry Rousseau.
